msspc.ecf file missing or invalid

Outlook 2003 fails to start and I get an error message that says something
like the "msspc.ecf" file is missing or invalid. I have aleady tried to
unload and reload outlook but to no avail. I see from another discussion
group that this has been going on for sometime now and that it appears that
there is no resolution to this problem. Hope someone can help.

Thanks Vince but no luck. I tried each step individually and then one after
the other without starting Outlook and the result is still the same. The
second time I went back into the registry the problem file was not
referenced. It seems to be related to Schedule + what ever that means. Any
other suggestions???

Do a search of the registry to see if that file shows up anywhere...

Tried the search (find within registry)) for both just msspc.ecf and also the
associated string and nothing showed up. Ok, what's next, thanks for
sitcking with it.

I don't think I saw this mentioned but have you tried deleting your
Extend.DAT file?

Good morning Vince, yes I have done that according to the support article you
mentioned in the beginning. For the record I am using windows 2000
professional and office 2003 std edition

Vince: I finally got Outlook 2003 to work. What I finally did was to
uninstall all the previous versions of Office that I had on the machine. have
upgraded since 95. My reason was that Outlook 2003 was working well on my
new Laptop. On start up had similar problem but then deleted Schedule+ line
in registry as earlier instructed and now all OK. I got desparate, so just
tried anything that I thought may help. Thanks for your help.
