No. I do understand that this newsgroup isn't meant for discussions
about this subject. I do understand you are/have been involved in these
discussions ending in your killfile and your sig getting bigger and
bigger. I do not understand why you made your initial remark considering
the above.
But to end this: you can email an answer to my question to Azzworld AT

No, I don't give any of my email addresses to anybody I don't know
anymore. Since you insist that I answer though, here goes:
If Microsoft gets into the AV program market, then they will have a
vested interest in ensuring that people use their program.
Not only that, but what better way, eventually, to get people to be
forced into upgrading their software than to make their AV program not
work in older versions of Windows?
They hold all the cards on a system that's running their OS.
There has been speculation in the past that most commercial AV companies
possibly might be responsible for some of the viruses that they cure and
protect against. Certainly, the possibility exists.
Given Microsoft's past practices, they're not excluded from this suspicion.
Microsoft would be better off if they stayed away from producing AV
software altogether. If they do follow through with this bad idea, they
will loose all credibility in my book.
YMMV.
