Using win XP home

Just got the MS Security Update in the mail.

Currently using AVG antivirus, and Kerio Personal Firewall, both seem
to be working completely OK.

Have been getting Win XP updates from MS web site, so should be current.

MS Security Update came with FIREWALL and ANTIVIRUS programs.

MY question... IS the FIREWALL and ANTIVIRUS program as good, or
better than what I have been using.

Is it advisable to install the new programs from MS, or keep on using
AVG antivirus and Kerio Personal Firewall?

Thanks

as long as whatever you had before is working for you , stay with it. you can always try the other and see how it works. scout around and see what people are saying about it. there is an old saying though, don't fix what's not broke.

Vagabond Software

I would use what you're comfortable with using. For example, I won't use a
software firewall and I use the freely (for me) available Computer
Associates' eTrust Anti-Virus because I can simply disable real-time
scanning features, which is my preference. I don't see any reason to switch
to anything else at this time.

If what you are currently using is easy to maintain and does not impact the
way you use your computer; I would recommend sticking with what is working
for you. On the other hand, if the MS stuff offers the same functionality
with easier maintenance and updates, a switch might be in order.

IF your happy with what you are using, then there's no reason to change.
I'm using AVG antivirus and Zone Alarms free firewall my self and perfectly
satisfied --- well as satisfied as one can be with software these days.

Greetings --

It wouldn't hurt you to try them and see if they suit your tastes
and needs, but I didn't like them. I briefly installed the eTrust EZ
Armor LE that was included with the security update CD, but removed
them less than a week later, to return to Grisoft AVG and Sygate's
Personal Firewall.

I had no particular problem with either, but found them
less-than-intuitive to use (particularly the antivirus component), and
annoying (frequent reminders from the firewall to purchase the full
version). I didn't particularly care for the interface of either, as
well.

Thanks to all!

I got the answer I need. I was wanting personal experiences from
others. It seems that I will be better off to continue using AVG and Kerio.

Thanks again.
