Microsoft Anti Spyware (Beta)

Yes, according to a couple reviews, false positives seem to be a
problem for the program. However, I'd prefer more false positives than
missing stuff given how badly spyware can screw up a system.

Well i suppose it's all very well to take this view, given that you are a
advanced user who knows enough to not blindly follow whatever the scanners
recommend. Joe Average is likely to be less well off though.

I've seen a couple of "false positives", but they were indicated as adware,
and a low threat level. I think that's a great feature for those who do not
have the knowledge or time to research every hit. If in doubt and the threat
level is low, you won't go far wrong by not removing it. If the threat level
is high, you won't go far wrong by nuking it.

I bet MS intends to rely heavily on the "anti-Spyware community" to help
them define and judge what constitutes a threat or nuisance. I don't think
MS wants to take that responsibility and alienate hundreds of software
developers, and be accused of conflicts of interest.
