Giant Anti-Spyware vs Microsot Anti-Spyware

I am not sure if I am right or not.

Before Microsoft buyout Giant, the Giant Anti-Spyware software is already
out in the market. I suppose that it is a working version and not a beta.
After the buyout, Microsoft removed some functionality and made it a beta
version. After reading the beta newsgroup, I had the feeling that it sees
like the MS Anti-Spyware was unable to detect some of the adware and spyware
that Lavasoft's Adware and Webroot's Spy Sweeper can detect. However,
somewhere, I read an article that Giant's AntiSpyware software's detection
rate is better than Adware and Webroot's Spy Sweeper. Do any expert know
why is there such a difference?

Thanks...

I find that MSAS does detect more then adaware does. Cookies are not
scanned in MSAS.

You are obviously reading reports that are 6 months or more old. That is
about how long MS has had control of the program.

A lot changes in 6 months in the spyware scene. The report is not valid any
longer.

Read the responses to the messages that state that ad-aware etc find
additional items.

One of the things removed from the Giant product was cookie scanning.
