Sorry, i havent read all the other posts thoroughly(to be honest, couldnt be arsed), but i think i got the jist.

So this may or may not sound silly. But have you fdisk'd and formated the new hard drive?

Cos i bought a new drive the other day and i had so much trouble with it, till a friend sorted it out, he fdisk'd n formated, and it works fine.

Though he is unsure if is ok to have one FAT32 and one NTSC (i have no idea what he or they mean) on the same comp.

Don't give up, we are close to a solution. If you install the 40 Gb drive alone, does the system see it then?

When i put it alone it gives me error while booting telling me to put in a boot disk.

if you boot using a boot disk, can you get a directory of the hard drive? Does the directory listing give the right capacity for the drive?
