Please can you help

I am trying to add a new Maxtor 6Y080L0 hard drive as a slave to my Samsung Hard drive. When I boot the pc all hard drives are recognised correctly. The screen moves on to the pick operating system screen, which is ok then it tries to boot into XP and the system just restarts. Any Ideas Guys? I have double checked all the jumpers!

The Bios is set to Auto detect the Hard drives. The Samsung is the master and the Maxtor is the slave. Not sure what channel means?

Yes that is how they are set up. The pc recognises them as master and slave, but when it tries to boot into xp something conflicts and the pc restarts.

What happens when you remove the Maxtor?

You are using an 80col cable yes?

Try safe mode?

The system boots as normal when I remove the drive. I think I'm using an 80col cable.

Any Ideas other than Safe mode?

as its an 80 pin cable, set both drives to CS (cable select) and see what happens.

(thats the way mine are) :)
