Charles,

Your resume was probably saved as .rtf, rich text format. Since you have
Microsoft Word 2002, that program is most likely associated with opening any
file with a .rtf extension. This is a good thing because Word is a much more
powerful word processor than WordPad. Word also has templates, including
some for writing resumes. I would recommend using Word to write your resume
rather than using WordPad. If you do want to change it back to using
WordPad, right click on your resume, select Properties, click on the Change
button under the General tab and select WordPad from the list of recommended
programs. Now all of your files with an .rtf extension will open with
WordPad.

As far as loosing WordPad, I doubt that you did. Try clicking on Start, All
Programs, Accessories and see if WordPad is the last entry in that menu.

I don't have an answer for your headphone problem other than to suggest
trying the headphones in another audio device to make sure they are ok, and
trying a different set of headphones with your CD to make sure it is working
properly. The CD players I have been around automatically mute the desktop
speakers when the headphones are plugged in. Does yours?

Please post back and let me know how you fare.
