Wordpad - Missing in 'New' menu - How do I install it.?

==============================
Have used Wordpad for years with '98' & 'ME'
but find (and must say 'to my astonishment) it i
not included as an option in the 'New' menu o
the "XP - Home edition" now on my computer

[] Notepad option is still there (way too limited)..
[] MS Word is also there (so 'overkill' that I can'
figure out how to use it to save myself - alway
end up messing up.. aarrgghhh).
[] Wordpad (now there's the ideal - just right
....but good ol Wordpad is missing. Damn shame

Does anyone know how and where to access the
'New' menu to add a copy of the Wordpad.exe o
whatever it is you do to get Wordpad as an option

I've looked for days in the system folders until I'
dizzy and can't seem to find any reference to th
'New' menu as a folder anywhere -- nor is ther
any reference to the 'New' menu in the Help files

Tonight I have tried to find FAQ answers to resolv
this simple [?] problem but it doesn't seem to hav
been asked/answered before now. Not anywhere
that I can find anyway. Nothing even in Tips.. etc

Just in case you're wondering....
I'm using the Wordpad link in Accessories but th
problem is that.. once it's saved.. the only way to
access the file is to endure MS Word butting in
and loading up to display the Wordpad file.

Rude really.. the way MS Word takes over (all the
Wordpad files I've made in XP) like that. It eve
slaps a MS Word icon on the file when you save it
How does MS explain that.? Hmmm.. I wonder i
MS would like it if every time they made a ne
file and saved it.. that somehow it got a Unix ico
slapped on it and the only way they could open i
would be to endure Unix cranking it open.

Seriously though.. I miss my Wordpad..
'KISSystem of life' for my note taking.

Can anyone help with this please? Would reall
appreciate to get back to the simple life I onc
knew with taking down notes etc with ease

Thank you.

Colin

You might have to install wordpad from you xp disk. Control panel>add and
remove programs> and on the left is a button middle ways down, like "add
windows components", their you go.
