Lost my Wordpad

I lost my WinXP Wordpad program to a trojan horse (ccCommon). Is there any
way I can re-load another Wordpad from my WinXP disk or from the internet?

You can download a copy here

Courtesy of Kelly Theriot, MS-MVP
Line 308, right column, Restore Wordpad.exe
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

After you download the program, right click on it and select
Properties from the menu. Hit the Unblock button on the General
page or you'll be asked if you want to run the program every
time it's launched.

By default, wordpad.exe is located in this folder

C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories

You might also find a copy here

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

If you have an XP installation CD, you can use the Expand
command to restore Wordpad to your computer. Open a command
prompt window, Start -> Run -> cmd.exe. With your installation
CD in the drive enter the following command substituting the
correct drive letter for X.

Expand X:\i386\wordpad.ex_ C:\Program Files\Windows
NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe

Good luck

Hi Boomer,

You can extract it from your Windows CD. It's in the i386 folder.

To reinstall Wordpad from the XP CD;

Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD-Reader and go to
C:\WINDOWS\inf\wordpad.inf and right click on the .inf file... (you may
need to make the folder visible in Tools\Folder Options\View\Show hidden
files and folders)... After you right click on wordpad.inf, select "install"
from the contextual menu, and follow the installer instructions.
