is there any way to embed the font into the page

For better search results:
Do you think I should put some hidden text into the body of the HOME page?
I can type some black on black that the viewer cannot see? is there
another way that would be better?

That would be the worst way, and could even get you banned from the search
engine index. There's just no substitute for having the plain text on the
page....

KatWoman

she doesn't want any text on the first page. The headline is in the
graphic, all the other elements on home page are graphical. So there is no
text. I meant type some black text on the black background so that viewer
will not see it but search engines would.
Luckily, I wasn't hired to get good placement just to give a good looking
design.
She promotes the site with adverts in bride magazines and stores.
Her music company promotes the CD/Storm page.

I understood what you meant. It's a bad idea.

<shrug> When confronted with the same client, I would speak sternly to them
and tell them that 99% of the people who go to the web go there to get
information. They do not go there to have a spiritual/multimedia/cultural
experience. By having a page with no content, you a) put another barrier
between your visitor and the information they seek, and b) you penalize
yourself by losing the very most important page in your site for search
engine ranking....

Please read the replies you have received about the black text on black
background..or "invisible text"... the search engines will ban the site.

Can you say anything about the method used in this product?

Sure.

Fontweaver automates the creation of a graphic character set. This character
set is realised through use of JavaScript. Fontweaver links all pages you
wish to associate with your character sets to the appropriate scripts and,
optionally, includes the ability to make the whole thing compatible with
text only browsers etc. through association with a NOSCRIPT block.

You can test the main Fontweaver pages for accessibility comformance and
HTML standards compliance and you'll get perfect results.

Run those pages through a text-only browser as well (or just turn JavaScript
off) and you'll find they display fine. You'll also find that the words wrap
(try doing that with anything else) if you narrow the browser window.

Fontweaver also is plugin-enabled which means that the professional version
will have the ability to allow you to do a *lot* more than just the basics.

There's a lot more coming soon.

EG: Ability to apply Photoshop Compatible Pugins to a character set,
generate calenders, display dynamically changing date/time etc, etc, etc.

Hope this helps.

Fontweaver

Oh, yes, almost forgot (there's a lot to remember).

We're working on dynamic resizing. It's a toughy, but we believe it's not
impossible.

M

Murray

So the typewriter-like effect I see on your site for the various non-websafe
faced content is intentional or is a function of the dynamic conversion
process?

How much overhead does this process add to the page?

It's purely the browser loading up the relevant images. Once they're in the
cache you won't notice it.
How much overhead does this process add to the page?

Totally dependent upon your connection speed.

The *only* overhead it in log file size. Each letter is an image so this can
make quite a difference. We are, however, working on a log-file stripper
which will remove all raw references and replace them with a consolidated
reference to the text block.

Thanks for the info!

I'll definitely try it!
I've used MS's WEFT tool with some success (only for particular types of
projects because of it's limitations).

WEFT never really got much momentum going did it? That's the problem with
plugin-based solutions.

I hope you enjoy using it. All comments, criticisms and opinions welcomed

I've reviewed the site but didn't mess with it yet. I'm sure I'll have no
criticism.
regarding WEFT, it never did catch on very well but I think it got unfairly
maligned. it's not nearly as bad as people tend to say it is. (IMHO)

And any tool that requires downloading a file (from the site you visit) opens a big security hole
WEFT is a prime "mask" for a hacker or "creative" virus

You're welcome.

Make sure you stay tuned to the forums as there's a new update coming
shortly which automates some other, additional, techniques.
