Internet explorer freezes on a specific website

Something is strange as explorer works well except if I try to go to 1
specific web page it automatically freezes. I get a "not responding" error
always. Its only this 1 site always. When I try to go there, it freezes
explorer and I have to shut explorer down and open a new window again. All
other websites have no problem accessing. First I thought that the website
was down, but I have talked with friends who use the site and they say there
hasn't been any trouble for them. How do I fix it? Has it become a
"restricted" site for my pc? I have no idea whats going on. Thanks for any
help.

It's more likely a problem with an add-on, for example the flash version.
Turn off the add-ons and see what happens, turn them back on one a time to
identify them.

Or use another browser.

You have explained my problem very well. I am running NIS2007, SpySweeper
(Webroot), and sp3 on a laptop. The problem started before upgrading to sp3
from sp2. For the past 2 years. these apps ran well-no problems- until about
a month ago when it all started. I have isolated the problem to one NIS
(Symantec) file under "Services" (msconfig)--"Syman. Settings mgr".
Unchecking this prevents NIS from loading and no problems.
Since the above combination (sp2, NIS2007, Spys.) ran with no problem for so
long, the only thing that has happened recently is MS's periodic upgrades.
The upgrade to sp3 incorporated all previous MS upgrades. The problem stayed
with the laptop and showed up in the desktop also. The desktop has been
running the same combination above for the past 2 years also. Both computers
have been checked with both apps. for spyware and virus, using latest
upgrades--nothing but a few minor cookies.
In summary, it is the NIS2007 that is the present cause of my problem,
disabling it eliminates that problem. However, since it ran for so long
without causing problems, I suspect that one of MS's periodic upgrades causes
the problems with the NIS.
I would appreciate any help in solving this without having to either
"Restore" back to earlier upgrades to sp2, or get rid of the NIS2007. By the
way, does anyone know if NIS2009 covers the same "area" as the above
combination???

You will notice that I asked the questions before reading your post above.
Just wanted you to know that your suggestions worked out well for me. The
culprit was relatively easy since previous efforts had pointed the finger at
the NIS and there were only 6 files to test. The deletion of the temp files
screwed up a few of my sites, however, small price to pay for solving the
problem. Thanks again
