intepub folders revert to read only

I have win xp pro with IIS5 installed. All folders from
intepub down are read only. Although when I right
click>properties and unclick the read only check box and
click apply it responds and tells me that read only has
been unset, when I close and re-open the folder
properties it is back to read only.

I have a number of web apps that I am trying to develop
that require the asp user to write to the file system, or
to write to access databases that are within the inetpub
file directory.

What is causing these directories to revert to read only
and how can I stop them?

Since XP SP1 new shares default to everyone read-only
rather than everyone full-control. I'd check that first.

Thanks this does look a likely reason - but what do I do
about it? I cannot see how to set full control
