Information bubbles

Hello,
At the bottom of the screen, over the icons next to the clock, there are
"information bubbles" that occasionally show up.. But mine do not show up,
like "27 days until activation"..I get the sound, but the bubbles do not
show up. Does anyone know how to fix this? Using XP SP 2

The ToolTips sometimes hide behind the Taskbar. To test to see if
that's what is happening, point at the very top of one of the items and
see if part of the Tool Tip is displayed behind the Taskbar. There's no
surefire cure for this, but here's one of the many temporary cures offered:

Elmo,
The tooltips are not hiding behind the taskbar. They are just not there.All
I get is the "pop" sound when they should pop up.
Any other ideas?????

Check (in Windows Explorer), Tools > Folder Options..... | View tab >
Advanced Settings > 2nd from the bottom, is there a check mark in " Show
pop-up description for Folder and Desktop items" ?

A Google Groups search on "no taskbar tool tips" netted these:

"It was a program named MusicMatch (mm_server.exe) .."

[A possible solution gleaned from a few posts] Search the registry for
"ShowInfoTip" and make sure each entry has a dword value of (1). Do the
same for "StartButtonBalloonTip".

To open up the registry editor:
1. Click on Start
2. Choose Run
3. Type in "regedit"
4. Click Okay
Follow this path to The Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced


Create a new DWORD value, name it EnableBalloonTips, and set it equal to 0.
If EnableBalloonTips is already there and equal to 1, set it equal to 0. Quit
the registry editor, log off, and log back on. Voila! Your computer will stop
talking down to you.

It discusses how to disable the information ballons. You can turn them on by
putting the value as 1 instead of 0.
