Steven,
Since I added the conservative swap file useage line to my
system.ini file (ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1) my swap file size is
frequently "0". I'm pretty convinced that the only thing being
maintained by Windows from session to session is the size of the swap
file, not the contents. So, I'm not sure deleting the swap file makes
any difference (at least in ME.)

John,
In ME, you'll likely not see a difference, however, in 9x systems the
swap file isn't as "nice", regardless of settings (

It is actually meant to reset itself upon re-booting, but never actually
does (not properly anyway).

Where do you see the word "shareware" in alt.comp.freeware?

Re "It dont nullifyi index.dat files." It deletes the contents. When you
have MSIE installed, the automatic re-creation of a skeleton structure for
those files, 16k per, is by design. If the existence of that design disturbs
you, it is time to look into IEradictor.

Index.dat suite is a quality utility. It is completely customizable, and
very considerate of the user.

It is furthermore more beyond a clean-up utility. It offers the ability to
view, and selectively copy from, the special .dat files. (Plus, I've even
used it to view my FreshDownload .DFL files.)

I note that the OT-Payware you advertise in this thread, it does not offer
the least grain of functionality as a special .dat viewer.

Your post is bizarre. Since you have decided that letting Windows create
its skeletal .dat structures is something you find unacceptable -- you
then proceed to call Index.dat Suite "fake" and "shit."

What is going on here? Is this because of your motive to advertise the
OT-Payware product? Or something broken in your thought process? In either
case, I do not see how this thread can continue, as it is not the function
of this group to discuss and evaluate payware. That which can be concluded
here, from your insensible input, is that you should not be using Index.dat
Suite. Its qualities are obviously beyond that which you have the capacity
to appreciate.

Well, like they say, it depends on a person's type of useage. My
particular type of useage seems to have benefited (albiet only
slightly) from adding the system.ini line. One definite advantage
though, is that it's easier to defrag when the swap file is "0" bytes
in size.
however, in 9x systems the
swap file isn't as "nice", regardless of settings (

It is actually meant to reset itself upon re-booting, but never actually
does (not properly anyway).

Steven,
My understanding was that it did in 95, didn't in 98SE and up. The
excuse given was that it makes booting time faster.

John, I used to run 95 (OSR1 & 2) and neither of them did.
