Description:

Index.dat Suite is a rather unique program that allows you not only to
delete the index.dat files, temporary internet files, temp files, cookies
and history, but it also allows you to view the index.dat files on your
system.

Index.dat Suite's current features include;

..: View index.dat files
..: Delete index.dat files
..: View and delete Temporary Internet Files (TIF)
..: View and delete Cookies
..: View and delete History
..: View and delete Temp files
..: View and delete Recent Documents
..: Auto-generation of batch file to assist in deleting the index.dat files
in DOS.
..: Optional add to RunOnce registry key
..: Optional deletion of swap file (9x users only)
..: Optional defrag after file deletion
..: Full application logging

Updates:

..: Added: Default file generation support for 9x/ME systems

..: Fixed: File/Path error when deleting Temp folder contents
..: Fixed: Invalid Operating System error
..: Fixed: Bug in platform/filename dialog
..: Fixed: Other minor bug fixes

..: Modified: File generation routine
..: Modified: Platform detection
..: Modified: Settings file location
..: Modified: Settings storage routine (now cleaner)
..: Modified: System scan routine
..: Modified: Other minor modifications

Known Issues:

Sort by size bug still present (can't seem to locate the cause of the
problem)

Updates planned:

Include "date last visited" for URL's found (requested)
... + ideas I've possibly not thought of yet

Notes:

In previous versions, Runtime Error 70 was thrown up when attempting to
delete the Temp folder contents. This was thought to have been due to
permissions issues, however, this has now been determined to have been
caused by file's still being in use, thus, should this occur again, a new
cleaner error will be shown to let the user know.

Steve, this version, for the first time, puts an extra folder in my
Download directory, with just the ini file. My Index.dat folder, where I
ran it for the first time (no install version) is a subtier folder under
my Download dirctory. Previous versions did not do this.

The only other programs that do this are Firebird/Firefox and Spybot.

Can you fix this so it keeps it's files in it's own folder?

Done.....

v2.5.10 now uses the same location as the main IDSuite.exe file. (it will
auto-copy the settings file if it exists, then delete the one in the old
directory, along with the directory itself... effectively un-doing the
changes made by the beta 9 release)

Steve, thanks for the change in 2.5.10, now it's well-behaved again!

BUT... results are a puzzle. I haven't actually done a search since
version 2.50 and it found the normal files fine.

I just ran 2.5.10 and it found nothing. I left the Settings at default.

Sorry that it's so long, but thought I better show you the entire file.
I seldom use IE 5.01, but it should leave traces.

Advice?

I know this is probably a stupid question but, have you checked the Search
In path?

Thanks, Steve, that was it, just not familiar with the program anymore,
and it had defaulted to my D partition.

Since it autodetects the OS, is it possible that Search in: can be
changed to default to the C partition where those files normally reside?
The user could always change from the default to another partition/drive
as desired.

Mike, it actually defaults to whichever drive you've got the IDSuite.exe
file on. (unless you've used the program before, in which case, it will use
whichever drive you have set in the settings file).

I was guessing that was the reason.
I only have Windows in my C partition, all my programs in D partition.
So then once the setting is changed the default to C, it will persist
from then on.

Thanks for some good programs.
