Incorrect Default Mail Handler

Running XP SP2. Outlook Express is our default mail handler and has been set
under Internet Options. If I try to right click on a picture, one
option is: "Send to". Under that option is "Mail Recipient". If I click on
that I receive the following message: "Either there is no default mail client
or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run
Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client"

I am also running Norton Anti-Virus 2005 and Zone Alarm Pro. I have taken
them both down and I still have this problem. I am also running Office 2000
at the current update level.

Some software that gives me access to email for pictures such as Adobe
Photoshop Elements work just fine and call up Outlook Express without
incident.

Also, I have been on websites that will allow me to forward a llink or send
a document on email. I receive this same message in those cases as well. It
would appear this is some registry issue but I have no idea where to start.
Office was reinsalled a couple of months ago because of another issue under
the direction of Microsoft Tech support.

What confuses me is that I do not want Outlook as my default mail handler.

The message is quite clear. By design, that function requires Outlook.
Those other programs don't. You can always enter OE and send the photo as
an attachment.
You don't always get what you want.

Jim, thanks. This process used to work and the pictures/documents were
passed to Outlook Express as an attachment. Maybe this is an Outlook Express
problem. LIke I said, it is the default email program. I am thinking here
of the part of the message that says the current program can not fulfill the
messaging request. Could it be a a service not runing?
