Using IE6 at default security level in XP SP2. Often I'll see what I think
is java script or java applets not displaying, and if I refresh it will.
For example on this page on the MSFT Office site, when I first loaded it,
all the question marks were replaced by red X's, and a refresh on the IE
toolbar brought back the blue question marks.

What do you call the question marks and why does this happen?
When loading this page, before the image showed up for a couple seconds
there was the Java Coffee Cup Image from Sun in its place. Why?

I'm at default security level (medium) and have JV Machine and MS VM. There
seems to be no problem when I click View>Java Console on the IE toolbar or
Tools>Sun Java Console on the IE toolbar. I have all 3 boxes under MS VM
checked on the advanced tab of IE options, and I have active scripting
enabled. Does this have anything to do with the default setting of Java
Scripting being at "high safety?"
Thanks,
