IIS refuses to install

I want to install some of the additional components and have selected IIS,
but the install says it cannot find 'staxmem.dl_'. When I browse and select
the file (that does exist on the CD), the same error box returns. If I
cancel, the install program then barfs on the next file it wants to install.

Why does this happen? How do I correct the behaviour?

As a further comment, I have tried the solution suggested in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=894351. Unfortunately, as I am trying to
install off of WinXP (including SP2), this solution does NOT work. The
program xpsp2.exe does NOT exist (anywhere). Can I suggest that the
"solution" is reworked for the current "slipstreamed" XPSP2 that is now being
distributed?

I must have omitted the fact that my OS is WinXP Pro SP2 and NOT Home.

Your solution would probably be fine if I could remember my German lessons
that I had in Zurich 12 years ago. However, as I have now forgotten most of
that, the reference was not intelligible for me.

Having got that off my back, I can now report that I have, in fact, solved
my difficulty with this install of the optional extras. The answer lay in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555268/en-us, which seems to refer
specifically to the current slipstreamed version of XP rather than the more
popular reference on this forum
(http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=894351), which ONLY applies
to XP when there is a seperate SP2 CD to install.

Okay, thanks for that feedback.

How about in my case? I have WinXP Pro SP2 installed which was originally
installed from a non SP2 CD. I was sent a CD for SP2, but I can't seem to
integrate the SP2 CD into the harddrive like article 894351 suggests. My
computer doesn't recognize the xpsp2 command. When I install IIS, I can get
it to accept staxmem.dl_ off the original WinXP Pro CD, but it then is unable
to find the file adsutil.vbs. I haven't been able to find that file anywhere
on either CD or my harddrives. I have tried the alternate
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555268/en-us, but that had no effect. Any
ideas?
