Install IIS?

Where can I find the "infocomm.dll" file which is requested on the
install of IIS?

I tried the install on my WinXP Pro PC logged in as an admin. I started
with Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components | selected IIS
| clicked Next | request for "Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD"
| Some files on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD are needed |
Click browse and the file it is looking for is "infocomm.dll".

I tried my original WinXP Pro install CD, and also used the SP1 CD I
created from the download. For WinXP Pro SP 1 only have the "xpsp1.exe"
file. Is there additional files I need to download from SP1 to receive
the "infocomm.dll"? If yes, where can I find them? TIA!

You can try this, it might work. First download SP1 from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/sp1lang.asp

Extract the SP1 download to a folder on your root drive.

For example to: C:\XPSP1

Create a System Restore Point as you are about to modify the registry.

Go to Start->Run and type REGEDIT to open the registry editor.

Expand the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

In the right hand pane double click "ServicePackSourcePath" key and modify

the value to c:\xpsp1

You might have to reboot.

Actually I found the "infocomm.dll" file in
"c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386". Afterward a bunch of other files
were requested as well. I've already installed SP1 on WinXP Pro so I
would imagine there is some other procedure involved beside looking for
files in SP1, since I would think it would be common to install IIS on
WinXP Pro AFTER SP1 has been installed. The relevant question is:

What do I need to install IIS on WinXP Pro when SP1 was installed
earlier in addition to other critical Window XP updates?

TIA!

It may be common to install IIS after SP1, but it wasn't planned for very
well. After you install SP1 any features you try to add will ask you for the
XP SP1 cd. The original cd is most cases doesn't work cause it does not have
the updated SP1 files. This has to be a real SP1 cd, not a burned one. Since
most don't have an SP1 cd, you have to download sp1, extract it to a folder,
then point the install to look there instead of looking for an SP1 cd.
Without a SP1 cd from MS this is the only way I was able to get it to work.
Other option is to order a SP1 cd from MS or borrow one from a friend.
