Hi,

I have XP professional with SP 1a installed in my Computer. And I
downloaded and installed SP2. Now I want to install IIS in my
computer. But when I tried to install IIS, the message box pop up and
asked my to insert XP professional SP2. But I don't have XP
Professional SP2 CD. So I tried with SP 1a, did not work and I also
tried with just SP2, did not work. I don't know what to do. Can anyone
tell me what the alternative way to do this? Thanks alot

What kind of computer is this?
Some makers include the necessary files on the HD. Open Add/Remove
programs/Add/Remove Windows Components. You'll see IIS about 4th down the list.
Won't hurt to try. (Then, there's always the manual).

Why do you need to load IIS? It's functions under XP are pretty
limited by the 10 connection limit of XP.

You will probably need to make a 'slipstreamed' CD based on your
original one, with the SP2 included in it (starting from a full 266 MB
SP2 .exe file). One method at Installing SP2:

In 1 minute that would be 1800 http connections.
I served 250 engineers with database reports and adhoc quires and another
100 other user types on a make shift PC with NT 4 workstation. I think your
need for speed is between your ears. ;)

1. WTF are you talking about? I don't care how many users are in
your company; once you reach the connection limit the next user
attempting connection will be denied until somebody else closes.

2. 1 user <> 1 connection. 1 user can often open 2 or more
connections. It's easy to reach XP's limit very quickly in IIS.

3. XP is generations removed from NT workstation. I don't even
remember what the connection limit was for it, but I do remember
running 2000 as a makeshift file server. We routinely had more than
15 or 20 people using it simultaneously, and the literature never
mentioned restrictions on connections. I limited the number of
connections to keep it from bogging down.

Thanks for your attempted rebuttal, if that's what it was. I didn't
understand any part of your post.
