IE6SP1 freezes when new window opened

Just in the last day, I have noticed that, whenever I open
a new window in IE6SP1, the frame appears, then nothing
happens -nothing is listed in the address bar & no link
appears. This happens whether I right click on a
selection, or javascript spawns a new window or the link
spawns a new window. Left clicking works fine. I tried
downgrading to IE 5.5, but the same thing happens. I tried
to run widows update, but even that screen freezes trying
to download the latest patch. I don't use pop-up blockers,
nor have I (to my knowlege) installed anything new. I'm
running windows 98 with all of the current patches. I use
NAV and Sygate Personal Firewall. Could there be a
corrupted DLL or registry entry? Which one could it be?

I am facing the same problem any ideas how to solve i have
not upgraded my pc from 98 to win2k. I am not using any
popup blockers also

Thanks, but I already tried everything in that article. It
didn't help at all. And, even with reinstalling IE6SP1 on
my Windows 98 system, the problem persists.
