IE6 Hangs/Freezes

While browsing, or opening new windows, IE6 hangs, freezes, and takes
forever to display a page. After a page loads, the loading progress
bar in the status bar at the bottom shows that is it complete, yet the
browser is unresponsive.

Facts:
I have scanned with Spybot, Adaware, have all IE6 updates from Windows
update, and am not running any BHO's. I have WinXP Pro, SP1, DSL
connection. Autocomplete, cookies, history, temp files, internet
history all cleaned and flushed.

It is not spyware, temp file, or a missing patch - there is a DLL
conflict, or something else - HELP!!

You may need new video drivers. Check the site for your video board
manufacturer. Meanwhile you can do the following:
1. Use the default mouse pointers.
2. Turn down your color depth. (Right click the desktop and choose
Properties | Appearance | Settings) Some people find that increasing color
depth helps.
3. Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. (For Win 98, Start |
Settings | Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button) You will
see little, if any, performance degradation.
4. Turn off your desktop wallpaper.

If these make the problem go away you need new video drivers.

If you have an ATI video board, try adding these lines to System.ini

DevBMP=0 <--- That's a zero

Will try, but I have a 2.8 P4, ATI 9800 Pro, and most of the windows
visuals are off already. color depth should never be an issue for me.
