browser slow since windows update...

since updating windows 98, my system has gone on a go slow.

have tried the autocomplete tabs & deleting
history/cookies/temp internet but browsing is painfully
slow, scrolling is jerky, and text in boxes is invisible
for about 5 seconds.

don't know whether it's ie6 or a java, directx problem.

any ideas?

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
