Hotfixes do not appear in Add/Remove Programs List

For some reason Hotfixes do not appear in Add/Remove Programs List. Have am
running XP SP2.

Any ideas?? The backups appear in win dir.

Hi

This is normal. SP2 removed those old entries (because those old
updates are now an integral part of SP2). But SP2 does not delete
the old uninstall files for the old hotfixes in case you uninstall
SP2 later on for some reason.

Take a look at the article in the link below for more on this.

For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a SP2 installation, take a look here:

Thanks Torgeir. That explains it. The issue I have is that I need to
uninstall a hotfix that is part of sp2. It is Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)
Q815485. this is part of SP2 but was a hotfix for sp1.


any ideas?

Hi

It is not possible to remove this update from SP2 because it is now
an integral part of SP2. Uninstalling SP2 is the only option to get
back to an older version for those files.
