Home page reset AND unwanted search engine pop-up

D

Dan

Two problems that started at around the same time:

1. My home page is constantly being reset to
res://mshp.dll/index.html#22776, which is titled "Looking
for..." and is not a web page I ever visit.

2. Whenever I run a search with Google, a second list of
search engine results pops up from search-company.com,
which I have never heard of and obviously don't want. The
search results from Google remain in the old window.

I have downloaded AdAware 6.0 but this has not solved the
problem.

Please Help!

I am having a similar problem but I cannot change my
homepage due to "restrictions in effect on this
computer." I have never enabled any restrictions on my
computer and I am the only person that uses my computer.
If you get a resolution to the problem let me know.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
