Have Virgin Media Broadband stopped updating Newsgroups

Have UK's Virgin Media Broadband stopped updating Newsgroups?

I have recently started using Mozilla Thunderbird again for my emails and newsgroups but the newsgroups via my Virgin Media broadband do not update. Are Mozilla and/or Virgin no longer supporting newsgroups?
