Fixing Inactive Security Agents

When opening microsoft antispyware, the summary for realtime protection
states that only 1 of 3 agents are active. However, if I follow through the
link to the realtime protection page it states that each of the 3 (internet
agents, system agents and application agents) is active. But then, if I
click through each of the agents, it tells me that the checkpoints aren't
being monitored ("status: Inactive 0 of 1 checkpoint currently monitored"
etc). If I do the obvious thing and click "activate" for the checkpoints,
nothing happens. If I repeatedly click the activate link for the checkpoint,
then just occasionally, the agent status on the realtime protection summary
page will turn to inactive, if this happens and I tell it to activate then it
updates to active but the main antispyware summary still tells me that "1 of
3 agents are active".

I'm quite confused as each summary page seems to contradict the others. The
last scan I did (yesterday), a piece of spy/adware was detected that I think
should have been blocked through realtime protection, so something is
definitely not working right. Has anybody come across this before, or have
any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks all

Hello Catherine

Try these two solutiºns:

1) do an update install--control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft
Antispyware, change, updªte.

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in -> command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpywªre

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any downside risk--and
see if that does the job. Let us know whether it does, or nºt!

That worked a treat - thanks. strangely enough, previously all agents listed
either 1 or no checkpoints possible to be activated, now its showing more
like 25 each. not sure what caused the change, but its fixed now.
