///FAST HardLock Error

I am trying to load s/w for a Sony DSC 505 camera on my
IBM T40 laptop running WinXP pro. I get an
error: "///FAST Hardlock Error"

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check your cable, it could be faulty
The Sony® digital camera may no longer operate after installing a third-party USB
device driver on the computer. This issue can occur when the USB driver for the
third-party device overwrites some of the files from the Sony® USB driver for the
digital camera. To resolve this issue, uninstall the third-party USB device driver
and then reinstall the Sony® USB driver.

thanks for the reply. I never got to the point of loading
anything or connecting anything. The user manual
installation protocol states to load the image management
s/w from the CD first without the camera connected. I
inserted the CD into the CD reader, nothing happened. I
navigated to the CD reader device and double clicked on
the setup.exe file, nothing happened. I right clicked on
the setup file and tried to do a "manual" open. Then I
received the hardlock error.

Any further thoughts?

If this is a company laptop, it might have a file security system
installed which is designed to forbid software installations.
