Event Viewer

Greg

I am having problems with the event viewer. There are no
events showing up. I look at the properties of each
event and compare them to another computer - the
properties are the same. Has anyone seen this behavior?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Greg,

Sounds like *they* may be corrupt.

Try this
Control Panel ->Services ->Event log, change to disable, and
Restart computer.

Search *.evt
Find SysEvent.Evt, SecEvent.Evt, and AppEvent.Evt
Rename them .old extension or delete them

Restart computer
Take a look at Event Viewer and the size should be zero
now.
Go back to Services and change Event log back to Automatic
Restart for the service to take effect.

Greg, there some items that are easy to check, like pressing
the standby button on your SB4200, and try the browser and
email program and you should get an error for DHCP server. I
often clear the Event logs by right clicking on the System,
and Applications, and choosing "Clear..." and answer NO.
That gives me a chance to see what is really going on real
time. Hope this helps you.

Oh, if you renamed the three, I believe it is safe to delete
them. Search *.old. You may find some other files that are
marked as .old. Don't delete them, unless you are sure it is
safe.
