Warning, could not connect to the internet!

Auto updater could not detect an internet connect.

I am connected to the internet everything in regards to
connect on the internet is working fine. Spyware has been
removed and that reinstalled. Same error every time when I
select Check for Updates.

What kind of Internet connection are you using? Do you
have a router? Are you running any types of firewalls on
our system?

You are most likely getting the error message due to the
updater trying to reach an outside source and since it
cannot reach it, it assumes you do not have an internet
connection.

Hi Chad

Thank you for the tips. The first thing I did was turn off
my fire wall. Ran Update OKAY.

Again, thank you
Bill

BILL- try configuring your antivirus software to "always
permit connection" for updater. cathie

This is a good suggestion, but also a source of confusion, these days.

An antivirus application doesn't traditionally have anything to do with
permitting Internet connections.

However, these days, the familiar antivirus icon down there by the clock is
often something that the consumer upgraded for a few bucks more, and, in
fact, includes firewall functionality.

It is crucial these days when posting a question in an online forum, to
describe accurately the name if the product providing this kind of
protection. NIS 2005 is a very different critter from NAV 2005, and both
differ from NSW 2005. Not to pick on a single vendor, but other antivirus
vendors have some similar differentiation going on.
