error (0x800A138F) update page error

i try to get my updates for a win 2000 pro pc and this is
the error i get (0x800A138F).ofcouorse it don't say what
it is . i sent it to m-s 2 or 3 weeks ago but of course i
will never hear from them can someone help me !! i got sp4
installed a long time ago , but not i need some of the
newer updates and can't get to them .

I had the same problem where update stopped working. It
seems as though the windows update manager file became
corrupt (c:\winnt\system32\wupdmgr.exe). Just rename this
file to anything (i used wupdmgr.old) and then open
windows update page again... it downloads the latest non-
corrupt version of the file and should sort out the
problem!!

Definitely worked for me!
