Windows Update- error + more

i keep getting an error number 0x800A138F along
with "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot
display the requested page." this occurs when i click
on "scan for updates"
can anyone help?

I keep getting the same error that Lee describes above.

Someone please advise.

I think your computer is waiting for the page to load but it takes to long
time. or you are not getting the Active-x controlls.
Try to lower your security settings for the internet in Internet Explorer..
and try again.
