Error 0x80004003 "Invalid pointer"

Does anybody else get this error when they try to do a manual scan?

Windows Defender
[X] Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x80004003. Invalid pointer

It happens sporadically for me. Sometimes you can just dismiss the error
dialogue and then click "Scan" again and it will just run. Other times you
can keep dismissing / clicking "Scan" and the error just comes back over &
over.

I have following:
Windows Defender Version 1.1.1051
Engine Version 1.1.1303.0
Signature Version 1.14.1353.2
and I am on Windows XP Professional SP2 with latest patches.

This is a bug. You can work around it by using Scan from the menus rather
than pressing the "scan now" button when offered.

The issue is understood, but will require a revision to the UI code to
fix--and that revision hasn't been made available as far as I can tell.
You're running the latest code that is public, so if you are still seeing
this, it isn't fixed yet (except on machines in Redmond!)
