I recieve this error Box that comes up when I press "start scan" from the
main page in Windows Defender: "Window Defender encountered an error:
0x80004003: Invalid pointer". I just updated the definitions for Windows
Defender from Microsoft Updates using ie. I am still able to run a quick or
full scan if I choos "quick scan" or "full scan" from the drop down menu
under "scan". Thank-you in advance for any help you can give me.

I am having the same problem with my windows defender which no one seems to
have a solution for at the moment. I wish i had not upgraded and stay with
the MS Anti-Spyware which i have never had any problem with. I only download
this windows defender a couple of days ago out of the blue came this error
message.
Just makes you wonder what MS is doing about this.

I'm also having the same problem. This only occured once I had upgraded to
the latest definitions. Microsoft should not have removed the working version
until Defender was ready for prime time.

When I went to search the newgroup with my error, I came across this thread.
Just wanted to add that I've encountered the same problem as well. I just
downloaded WD a couple of days ago. The initial scan seemed to work great.
But, when I recieved an icon on my taskbar indicating I had not scanned in 4
days, I clicked on it to open WD, click the 'Start Scan' button, and
immediately came up with this error.
