DVD burning

I have windows xp and a dvd burner and have been burning
fine until I bought some new discs. I bought Datawrite
4xDVD-R and tried to burn on them using Nero but cannot.
It comes up with an 'Unknown CD-R' error message. Yet,
when I examine the disc in Nero, it is clearly a DVD-R.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Try a different brand or the same brand that was working. If it works on
them then the Datawrite may not
be a working brand for you.
