download problem

Hello
I'm trying to download a large file via my ISDN connection. The file will
take almost 4 hours and my internet connection drops after 2. when I redial
and try to download the rest of the file, it starts from the beginning
therefore making it impossible for me to download the whole file. Why isn't
the download picking up where it left off?

Is it because I am downloaded from a website where there are multiple
servers and users trying the same download at the same time?

Hi

How are you downloading the file - via Internet Explorer. If so you may like to try a download manager - www.ggogle.com

See if there is an FTP server and use an FTP program to download - eg
WinFTP; CuteFTP; FTPExplorer

Good FTP servers usually provide for restarts - HTTP ones usually do not

This will sort you out, it dosen't mind how many times you lose the
connection ! It just keeps appending to the original download until you have
the complete item.
