I've used google's group search before... Quite handy. Didn't realize
there were other sites for searching groups also. That's great to
know. Thanks for posting that. :)

Also interesting to note that unlike Google, these sites do not honour
the X-No-Archive header.

Not even sure myself why I still use it anyway!

Hey, didn't know that! Wonderful!

It would be helpful if Garrett stated his intentions. If Garrett does
not wish to be point person for PL2005 then IMO there will be no need
for further discussion ATM.

I've been point person for the group since last fall. AFAIK to date this
has not been elective position. IOW - the person who held the position
held it until they chose to step down.

I plan to start a discussion of the voting procedure, the selection
process following the vote etc. etc. *soon* - so that we will have
agreed upon procedures when nominations for PL2005 begin.

ISTM that if Garrett does wish to act as point person for PL2005 then
the vote should be held *ASAP*.

Not sure my opinion will count for anything, but personally, I feel
that due to the recent events, neither I, Susan, SOS, Genna or anyone
else who participated in the recent issues should be involved, head up,
handle, maintain, be point person for the PL2005 voting process.
Though we should at least be allowed to cast our votes, I feel that it
would be much more fair to the users of this group if they themselves
handled the PL2005 vote process.

If this is not a reasonable idea, then whoever has been conducting the
vote process should most likely be the person who continues to conduct
the vote process, unless the users of the group otherwise express their
wish for someone else to do this.

Best regards,
-Garrett

Not sure if my opinion will count for anything, but how about you stfu
like you keep promising to, and let Susan get on with what she is good
at. Then you publish the results on Genna's site and Susan does
whatever she feels like.

Susan pinged Garrett. What part about replying don't you understand?

I suggest that either the website/domain name/webmaster/list manager
question be resolved with some urgency (i.e., forthwith rather than some
months down the track), or that the task of calling nominations and
compiling the next list be postponed until such time as the management
question is settled. If that means there will be no 1995 list, then so
be it.

I agree with Nicolaas - this needs to be *resolved* - *ASAP*.

My *intention* is to act as point person for ACF during the PL2005
selection process - as I did in PL2004.

You have given your "opinion". Please state your *intentions*. What do
you plan to *do* in regard to this matter?

Just my *own* interpretation:

I *think* Garrett *implied* he plans to *do* nothing (i.e.,
not to be the point person); and he suggested if the group
want to decide someone else other than the names he mentioned
should do it due to the previously heated situation is
resonable and understandable; otherwise, Susan you should do
it :)

As for me, my opinion is that you are the best person to do
it, you did a wonderful job last year, athough, I have to say
you post could be a bit less "SOS-liked" though ;-P

(Garrett, if i get your post wrong, don't beat me up | , I
am just trying to help, not to cause trouble).

Not sure if my opinion will count, either. I tend to agree
with this, you know, it is really hard to find someone who
would volunteer so passionately like Susan :) Certainly no
one can beat this.

For the record, and to start the ball rolling (or to set the cat among the
pigeons, whichever) *I move" that, absent an overwhelming majority of
votes to the contrary before 31JUL04 and subject to her being prepared to
do so, Susan Bugher be mandated to continue as webmaster/list
manager/point person/returning officer for the group as heretofore.

If you are doing this for a vote I think a new thread would be best. The
header doesn't say anything about a vote in this thread. If you are looking
for a seconder the same applies. Asking for a second or vote shud be in a
plainly marked single thread don't you think? I just think it would make
things simpler for everyone to follow

I made my post in the thread to which I believe it germane. If someone
wishes to re-post it into its own thread, that is for them to do.

Anyone *pinging* anyone else in a public forum shouldn't be too surprised
to receive comments from a 'non-pingee' (is that a word?!) If Susans
comments were made *only* for Garretts attention then she should have
made said comments in a private email.

Just my two lowest denominations worth.

This thread was for discussion of a possible vote, as the Subject
header indicates. If a round of voting were to arise out of it (seems
unlikely at this point), a new clearly marked thread would be needed.

Susan's comments were not meant only for Garrett; she posted them
twice for the group and then pinged him to draw his attention to them.
It seems to have worked, and worked out well. :)
