My desktop background picture disappeared. When I log on I get a dialog box
that says C://Windows/privacy-danger....can not be located or loaded.
Everytime you go back to the desktop, you get the same message. I have just
recently cleaned my system from some malware, but apparently it only cleaned
my account, not the other 4 I have in Media. Any suggestions?

Hi,

What does this background issue have to do with the other profiles not being
cleaned?
There is a great difference between LocalMachine and CurrentUser.

Either way, for which ever profile this error message belongs to...the
system is still not cleaned.
And/or you are needing to provide more info.

As Kelly said, your computer is still not clean. First, make sure the
computer is really virus/malware-free:

Once you've done that, if you are still having the problem:

Go to the Display applet in Control Panel and look on the Desktop tab.
Click on Customize Desktop, and then click on the Web tab. You will see
that there are checkmarks next to "My Current Home Page" and probably
"Lock Desktop Items". Uncheck these. By highlighting the "My Current
Home Page" and clicking on the Properties button, you will be able to
determine the name of the file that is the message. It might be called
something like "privacy-danger.html" or the like.

Click Apply and OK out when you've made your changes. Then you want to
find the *.html malware file and delete it.

Hi. Sorry I was unclear. I will try to be clear on the questions I have.
First, I have XP Media center with 5 accounts. The main account was infected
with NewMediaCodeC, a malware. The homepage was taken over and I would
constantly receive messages that my hard drive needed cleaning. I have run
numerous programs and it appears that the main account is clean. When I try
to log onto the other 4 accounts, the background is blank and the
C://windows/privacy-danger....dialog box appears. I change the background
under control panel, but the message appears again. My question is actually
two fold; first how do I remove this dialog box and get a background that
stays? Second, do I need to go into ever account and run the same virus/fix
programs? The second question maybe for another forum. Maybe I need to
understand the differnece between local machine and current user.
