Hate to go this route to ask a question, however I seem to have difficulty
posting a msg. How do I post/a new question?

I am bombarded with spam emails in Windows mail, using the junk email
blocked sender/blocked domain is pretty much useless. Is the something more
effective?

Also thanks to the one that gave the the "hotfix" download that enabled me
to delete frozen emailsThanks)

It is best to limit a post to one issue, but I'll go ahead and give a response
to both of your questions.

The web interface for this forum (actually a newsgroup) is very buggy.
You are much better off using the good newsreader that is included
with Windows Mail. Try this link:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

The spam problem requires a multi-faceted approach. In addition to
the junk e-mail filter in Windows Mail, your mail service provider should
also offer a server-based spam filter. If that is not sufficient, you can try
a third party tool like K9: http://keir.net/k9.html

My windows mail deleted mail folder will not delete the emails. I have tried
using "empty "Deleted mail" folder and it returns with an "Unknown Error" and
does not empty the deleted mail folder. It is now getting HUGE. How do I
empty it? Please!!!

It will only ask for confirmation if you delete from the Deleted Items folder.
I purge that folder only once a week so the request for confirmation doesn't
bother me.
There is no known way to inhibit that delete confirmation.
If you want, you can configure WM to empty the Deleted Items folder
automatically when you exit the program: Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance.

I have this problem...can't delete mail from "Deleted Items" folder. I tried
to run the hotfix and it told me that the update did not apply to my
computer. Any ideas?

That link from which you downloaded the hotfix has additional steps to take
if the hotfix doesn't do the job. However, those steps are quite laborious.
My recommendation is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail instead:

Well, it is now the year 2009 and I still haven't seen the "fix" for where
you can turn off the "Are You Sure" prompt when I permanently delete a
message from my inbox while holding down the shift key. It is only in
Windows mail that I've had this problem. Outlook worked great when I was
using it on XP. Any information would be most helpful.

Thanks,

Ñледующее: There will be no fixes forthcoming for Windows Mail. All development
was stopped about July 2006. You are welcome to upgrade to its
replacement, Windows Live Mail:

I had that problem and could not get it to work by going into tools. I
tried hightlighting the first message and press shift and scoll down which
will highlight them all. Press delete and they are deleted

If you want to delete many emails at the same time in the deleted emails
folder, get into deleted email and click edit. You then have a choice of
permenantely deleting all mails. Then do it,

What folder are you in when you get that message?
If you are in the Deleted Items folder, that warning is normal, since
a delete from there can't be undone. The normal practice is to allow
messages to accumulate in the Deleted Items folder, then once a week
or so, right-click on that folder and select "Empty..."

No wants to tell you you can not fix this unless they issue a update.
The software is written to have annoying yes / no permissions and not way of
custom setting. You can use a free software program called Mozilla
Thunderbird which does what you want.
Sorry to break the bad news.

Windows Mail doesn't ask for confirmation when deleting a mail message.
It does ask when you go to empty the Deleted Items folder.
I believe it does ask when deleting a news post, so the best thing is to
wait and delete a whole block of posts at once, so you only answer the
question once.

It does ask for confirmation when deleting a mail message (moving it from
inbox to deleted folder. This just started happening today - I have been
using Vista Windows mail for 9 months. Are you saying there is no way to
turn off this option using windows? Apple is sounding better and better.
