I have suddenly had the same problem pop up on my windows mail account as you
wrote before. I have never had this occur to me in the full year I have had
my system with VISTA loaded. I would simply press delete after reading a msg
and it would go into the delete folder, no hassle at all. The only thing I
can attribute this change to is downloading the SP1 update yesterday.
Suddenly I am getting these more than annoying questions. I have read
through the list of responses through 4/30/2008 and can find nothing that
really applies to your original question Karp. I hope someone out there has
figured out how to generate a "do not show this msg again" box.

Same here, my fault...was in DEL folder!

I had the same trouble (getting confirmation box each time I hit the DELETE
BUTTON) until I looked, and somehow I was in the DELETED box!!! It was my
own fault. It will NOT ask me to delete each individual email in the INBOX.
Only when you are in the DELETED box...thus preventing or safeguarding you
from permanently deleting something of importance.

It will only ask for confirmation if you delete from the Deleted Items folder.
I purge that folder only once a week so the request for confirmation doesn't
bother me.
There is no known way to inhibit that delete confirmation.
If you want, you can configure WM to empty the Deleted Items folder
automatically when you exit the program: Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance.

Few of the frequent responders in this newsgroup respond by email.

For more help, right click on the error message and copy all of it to
your next message.

Also, since unknown errors in Windows Mail are frequently due to
interference from an antivirus program, what if any antivirus programs
do you have?

When I hit delete after reading a message in my INBOX it never reaches my
delete folder even though it says there are messages in the Delete Folder,
the box is empty so I never have the changce to see the message again.
Something happened it used to work fine and I could delete out of the delete
folder when I was ready.

HELP!

I was having the same issue. If you highlight all your messages it only asks
for confirmation once.

I have exactly this problem - other problems were posted in this thread, but
so far - no answer to this. I definitely have the issue on inbox, not
'deleted' folder.

Thank you very much for offering this download - after I downloaded this FIX
- I was able to permanently deleted my mail from the delete folder. The
folder went from over 100 messages to zero.

Thanks - have a great day..... Joana

Hello, not sure how to start a new msg, so will ask here.

I have about 7 msgs in my windows email that I cannot delete.
When I try to delete I get "cannot delete unknown error"
I have tried about everything but I cannot delete or purge, have gone
through about every suggestion I have seen including the ones ones on this
site.
Also how do I start a new thread? When I when I click on new nothing works.
Thanks in advance

Use Windows Mail to access these newsgroups, instead of the clunky web
interface, and you won't have problems starting a new thread.

To delete those messages, download and install this hotfix, with Windows
Mail not running
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labeled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works for
other folders.

It shouldn't ask you unless you are deleting from the Deleted Items folder.
There is no recovery for deleting from Deleted Items.
It's a safety net, so you won't delete an important message accidentally.
Instead of deleting individual messages from Deleted Items, right-click on
that folder and select "Empty Deleted Items Folder".
I empty my Deleted Items folder only once a week. There's no need to do
it more often.
