Creating simple menu

Hi, Newbie here,

I'm going thru the 22 steps out of Microsoft Support to "create a simgle
dynamic menu". Looks simple enough, but after I put in two layers, the
directions said to open the task pane and click on layers. I don't see that
particular topic by itself. So, if these are the steps to take, I'll keep
trying, but if anyone knows another way to create drop down menus, please let
me know.

I need all the help you're willing to give.

From the Menus use: View - Task pane
Then use the drop down menu on the task pane to select: Layers

Or just use one of the scripts from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/
