The culprit is IPmon32, which is loading at startup. Go to Start>Run and
type (without quotes) "msconfig" [Enter]. Find IPmon32 and uncheck the
box next to its name, Apply and OK out. You don't need to restart
immediately, but when you do you'll get a dialog box saying you've used
the System Configuration Utility. Just check the box that says, "don't
bother me about this again".

IPmon32 is something for my verizon dsl service, if I stop it from starting
what will it do to my connection, and what exactly is it?? Never had this
problem with sp1.

According to all the Googling I've done, nothing will happen. It's an
invasive nasty little program that generally causes problems. You don't
need it for your Internet connection.

Thanks Malke

Unchecking IPmon32 also solved the error message"widows explorer has
encountered a problem and must shut down" when starting control panel or My
documents or My computer.
