computer wont recognize recovery discs

I am running xp home edition. I was having trouble with the start up and
decided to do a system recovery. well it was going well and then it said it
didnt load the win32 system files. I order recovery discs from HP and now it
tells me that the discs arent the right ones for my comp. I had also made a
system recovery disc before I started all this and it also tells me that it
isnt the one for my comp. has anyone else ever ran across this kind of
problem? I bought my comp new and havent made any changes except to increase
memory. HP has double checked and the recovery disc are the right ones for
my PC.
thanks for any suggestions.

What's the exact model of your PC?

I have a Compaq presario sr1920nx. I meant to say that I made the recovery
tools cd, and it wont recognize it. I tried to run checkdisc and it wont run
PC Doctor (or what ever the program is called) because it isnt liscened to
this comp.

You haven't mentioned how you attempted to recover the system using the Recovery
Disk(s) or how you created the disk(s).

When you communicated with HP, did they mention anything about the Recovery or
Diagnostic files being on a hidden partition? See if either the 2nd or 3rd option
helps out here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...=us&lang=en&rule=44109&product=3184154&dlc=en

Take care in reading the steps to take, especially the inserted "Notes".

If no joy, remove the extra memory module(s) you added as well as what the article
states to remove/disconnect and see if that makes a difference. You haven't
mentioned if this issue was prior to or after adding the memory module(s).
