CDROM (code 31)

W

Willard

Win2Kpro SP3 notebook, with multibay using IDE HDD & CDROM plugins..

After replacing the HDD with the CDROM, the CDROM is not recognized,
because Wizard reports: "This device is not working properly because
Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (code 31)"..

The driver is in place ok; C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Cdrom.sys......
Device Manager shows the device with the (!)in Yellow...
The CDROM works ok with an A:\dos boot..

The Knowledge Base (818826) "suggests" that a pac later than SP3 has a
fix..

Does SP4 fix this specific problem????

Hi Willard,
I wouldn't be able to say for certain that SP4 will fix this specific issue,
but there are some fixes for this type of issue in SP4. I'd definitely
recommend giving it a try.
