If your new Internet service provider (ISP) is different than Wanadoo,
what you experienced is normal. As a general rule, the owner of
the SMTP server you are using must be the same as the entity providing
your Internet connection at that moment. For more on this see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

Ask Wanadoo if they provide SMTP service on a port other than '25'.
If not:
Assuming you mostly send from home, the solution is to substitute the
SMTP server belonging to your home ISP. This is a bit tricky, but if you
want to go that route, I can provide more details.

Does BT require SMTP authentication? If not required, it is best to
leave the setting "My server requires authentication" unchecked.
Otherwise, there is an additional step to distinguish SMTP authentication
from POP authentication.

Thanks for your help Gary, I followed 'macs' steps and that got me there.

Can't believe I had to go to so much trouble just to send an email!!!!!

Why did i bother changing ISP!!!!!!!

You are welcome Joel.

The main thing is that you are now able to send from a Wanadoo mail account,
using a none Wanadoo ISP server,

You can only send mail via the ISP connection that you pay, and are
connected to, for that privilege.

You tell us why you decided to change your ISP please?

Not for reasons of cost, because BT are far more expensive.

BT will have given you a new email address, set that up also in WM using the
settings from the page that I gave to you earlier.

Any problems come back here?

You're very welcome.
You can blame the spammers for making it tough; the stricter sending
rules had to be adopted because spammers were abusing the open
sending policy.

Not sure what you are asking about, Peggy Sue.

Sara, it is always best to start your own new thread.

Change the port number back to 25.
Delete or move any messages that remain in your Outbox.

Try to send another Test message, if that fails check that all your settings
are as shown at this link:
http://help.optuszoo.com.au/help/dial/connected/windows/winmail

Are you connecting at home or on a different connection?
