On the local network, the win98 computer in question can see the new winxp
computer (both are in the same workgroup) but the new xp computer cannot see
the win98 computer.

I can see the win98 computer from my win2k workstation.

How to make the winxp computer see the win98 computer?

Thanks!

Bill,

There are known problems with making computers running Windows 98 and Windows XP
see each other.

Set up a user/password on the XP the same as that used on the W98 computer.
