Why I can not delete or copy or move?

You're the MVP. You tell US! 8^)

I have a message like that too and none of the suggestions
has worked for me thus far.

Has anybody been able to solve this yet? I just got a new computer with Vista
on it yesterday, trying to get used to windows mail. I don't really know
anything about computers, but I was able to use outlook on my old desktop.
Anyway, I am having the same problem deleting a message. "An unknown error
has occured." And I've noticed my message is not displayed either. But
judging by the subject it was just spam anyway. Meh.

I tried repairing the database and received the following error:

Operation terminated with error -1032 (JET_errFileAccessDenied, Cannot
access fi
le, the file is locked or in use) after 30.62 seconds.

What next?

Within Command Prompt, you have to navigate your way to the subdirectory
where the file is located, and then run the command.

It probably won't fix anything - at least, in my case it didn't...

Yes, I navigated to the subdirectory where the file was located and tried it
there. I still got the same error message, what to do next?

"Operation terminated with error -1032 (JET_errFileAccessDenied, Cannot
access file, the file is locked or in use) after 30.62 seconds."

I am in the same boat with these guys! .... For a new fancy whammy dimmy
program (VISTA - Windows Mail) ... It's a shame it doesn't work like XP ..
Now I'm off my podium... How do I fix this mess? .. I too! have an email
locked in my inbox ...
Some of the other threads show how to remove it but it doesn't work
either.....

Hello, this is what I found out on how to repair the message store.

First you must navigate to were the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore is located
using a command prompt window.

This is how you do this:

1. Click on start icon in the Task Bar.
2. Under the "All Programs" menu option there is a "Start Search" field,
type in the word "Command".
3. A command prompt window should appear.
4. Type "cd AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail"
5. Now to repair the message store type "esentutl /p
WindowsMail.MSMessageStore"
6. This should repair the message store and the problem should go away.

Please note that if you get the "JET_errFileAccessDenied" error message this
indicates the the Windows Mail process is still running and you need to end
it using the Task Manager.

Also, you can play it extra safe by copying the contents of the Local
Folders directory under the Windows Mail directory into another directory on
your hard drive.

Hope this helps you.

You don't edit the user profile. You edit the line of text to match the

Thanks Mbreau for writing in steps I can understand. I tried what you said
and it didn't work but I really appreciate your making it simple. I guess
I'll just leave all these messages in my inbox as cochran suggests. Thats why
I bought a fancy new computer so I could keep dozens of useless emails in my
inbox.

What I did was add the e-mail recipient to my blocked senders list and the
e-mail dissappeared. Try that.
