If it just quit for no reason and it's been working, leave it alone, don't
do a thing except check your e-mail provider's mail status page. It might
be that it just went down. (could be a couple minutes or hours) 2. Did you
do anything to it recently? New s/w added? Did you get a Virus Update
overnight? What virus checker are you using?

OOps just noticed...why does your server say 'pop' in and SMTP server
address. Did you make changes?

Does your connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If you are using
wireless,
you may be connected through a neighbor's wireless server instead of your
own, and therefore starting out the connection through your neighbor's
internet provider. Connections that cross over, and go to port 25, are
often
blocked to cause trouble for spammers. Ask your email provider if their
email server listens to any other port for outgoing mail, and if so, where
to
find the details of switching to the other port. This is likely to be
somewhere
on their web site, so you might also try searching for it there. Just
trying all
the ports is a very slow way to find out, since there are about 65,000 ports
available.

Gary...I don't know what happened to it. I created it a long time ago and
it never showed up in the Newsgroup. It's in my sent items, looks like the
group is right, but I don't know where it is. So please feel free to answer
Mark's question and put it in the "new" thread if you will please....sorry
for the confusion.

Working fine till the other day. I can receive mail but not send.
Help?!

Luis, the SMTP server, mail.arroz.com.gt, is refusing to send your
message because you are connecting from an IP address that
does not belong to arroz.com.gt. For anti-spamming reasons the use
of port 25 has been restricted to those connecting from the mail server's
domain. For a stationary (non-laptop) computer the best solution is to
only use the SMTP server belonging to your ISP.

I have the same problem since a couple of days...Not able to send e-mails.
1) After trying many things, I erased the files in the OUTBOX and I can send
e-mails to myself but cannot send to anybody else.
2) I can receive e-mail from myself and everybody elso, RECEIVING is OK.
3) My antivirus is Mcafee
4) I'm using my own wireless network at work as always.

ok, but there have been lots of reports that just shutting down Av's didn't
get it. It needs to be completely removed. Also, not being familiar with
PCGuard are there other parts to it? Like is is a Firewall / Malware /
Virus checker composite package...or what. Make sure you get it all. Mind
you this is just a trouble shooting step. We'll go from here depending on
your report. Reports for virus problems are exactly as you reported. "all
of a sudden...", or "for no reason...". Sometime with a message, but
sometimes not. One reason why they show up is because you got an overnight
update, either for the virus table or the exe itself. There could be more
reasons.

It's the "No error Messages" that's confusing and a clue.

Please don't try to "fathom" it. Just shut it down, remove it, and see

it works.

There, see? You could give us more information.

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
It also works on other folders.

McAfee is not a good idea with OE. Nor is Norton.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
