Cannot send mail

Need more details. Do you get an error message? If so,
copy it and post it here.

When you hit the Send/Receive button at the top, what happens? Try sending
another e-mail to yourself...what happens? What Anit-Virus do you have
loaded?

I have already tried sending an email to myself but it does not send. The
mail just sits in my outbox. No error messages appear at all. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

The Anti-Virus programme is PCGuard which comes with Virgin. Sending email
was working before till the other day so I cannot fathom out why all of a
sudden it has stopped sending my emails?

Please don't try to "fathom" it. Just shut it down, remove it, and see if
it works.

A number of antivirus programs tend to cause such problems, although
these problems often take months to appear. What if any antivirus programs,
antispyware programs, firewall programs, and other security programs do
you have?

If you have the Google Toolbar program installed, uninstall it. It also
causes
problems in Windows Mail.

If you have a program with SMS in its name installed, tell us its full name.
one of these programs also causes problems in Windows Mail.

Are you trying to send from a location where the internet provider is
other than at home? If so, connections to port 25 are often blocked,
and occasionally also connections to a few other ports.

Are you using wireless? If so, you may be accidentally using a
neighbor's wireless server instead of your own, and therefore more
likely to run into a problem with a blocked port if your neighbor
uses a different internet provider.

ok, but there have been lots of reports that just shutting down Av's didn't
get it. It needs to be completely removed. Also, not being familiar with
PCGuard are there other parts to it? Like is is a Firewall / Malware /
Virus checker composite package...or what. Make sure you get it all. Mind
you this is just a trouble shooting step. We'll go from here depending on
your report. Reports for virus problems are exactly as you reported. "all
of a sudden...", or "for no reason...". Sometime with a message, but
sometimes not. One reason why they show up is because you got an overnight
update, either for the virus table or the exe itself. There could be more
reasons.

It's the "No error Messages" that's confusing and a clue.

I have the same problem since a couple of days...Not able to send e-mails.
1) After trying many things, I erased the files in the OUTBOX and I can send
e-mails to myself but cannot send to anybody else.
2) I can receive e-mail from myself and everybody elso, RECEIVING is OK.
3) My antivirus is Mcafee
4) I'm using my own wireless network at work as always.
5) The message I recieve is:
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'xxxxxxx'. Subject 'YYYYYYYYY', Account:
'Luis', Server: 'mail.arroz.com.gt', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response '550 not
local host iica.org.gt, not a gateway', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Any suggestions ??????????????????

I have the same problem, try this: I discoverd that still can be done using
the
submenus under the arrow at the right side of the "send and receive" menu.
Just force it to do it.

Luis,

Please start a new thread and restate your problem. Many cases look the
same but are in fact completely different. The responders get really
confused with to whom they are speaking. And believe me the responders are
keeping track of all the problems...so please start a new thread.
